Synopsis:
Wawa is a seven year old boy from the Lisu nationality-one of the ethnic
minorities in Yun Nan, China. Everyday, his sister, Naxiang, and her friends
have to ‘liusuo’, or glide along steel cable across the river to get to school.
Wawa desperately wants to go to school like his big sister. One day, he secretly
rides the cable (liusuo) across the river by himself, to see the school
where he yearns to go.
When a family tragedy occurs, Wawa suddenly becomes deeply terrified of
the liusuo . Eventually a bridge will be built to offer a better way, but will it
be constructed in time to give Wawa a chance to finally go to school?
